NOVELTY - The method involves growing a carbon nano tube array (20), which is perpendicular to a base of a current collector (100) on a base of the current collector. A graphene layer (30), which is perpendicular to the carbon nano tube array is grown, where the base of the current collector comprises the carbon nano tube array. A current collector substrate (10) is arranged perpendicular to the carbon nano-tube array. Chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process is performed based on solid phase pyrolysis technology and sputtering technology. The substrate is a carbon fiber substrate, a graphene substrate, a graphene intercalation compound substrate, a carbon nanotube substrate, metal substrate, and an alloy substrate. USE - Method for modifying a current collector of an energy storage device. ADVANTAGE - The method enables increasing contact point between the current collector and an electrode to reduce contact resistance between fluid and electrode and increase power density of an energy storage device.
