NOVELTY - Producing methylamine using a metal carbide catalyst, involves contacting methanol and ammonia in the presence of metal carbide catalyst under the conditions for generating methylamine, where the metal carbide catalyst comprises 75-99.9 wt.% a carrier and 0.1-25 wt.% a metal element carbide loaded on the carrier and the metal element is a transition metal element. USE - Method for producing methylamine. ADVANTAGE - The method enables to prepare methylamine without using expensive molecular sieve catalysts, thus improving the economy of the entire methylamine synthesis process.
