NOVELTY - Invention can be used in the chemical industry. In order to produce layered graphite and multilayer graphene in a liquid medium of an organic solvent, thermally expanded graphite and flake graphite are used in a mixture with an organic solvent — penetrant. The solvent is diffused into the graphite at an elevated pressure of the working gas of 0.5 to 0.8 MPa in order to produce graphene by exfoliation. Gases and mixtures thereof not chemically reacting with the solvent are used as a working gas. The time of holding the graphite in the solvent with the gas or mixture of gases dissolved therein under pressure is 1 to 24 hours. The process of exfoliation of graphene begins from the moment of a sharp pressure drop to atmospheric pressure, wherein the number of pressure increase/pressure drop cycles is not limited.
