▎ 摘 要
NOVELTY - A water filtration membrane (1) comprises a graphene oxide laminate (3) comprising graphene oxide flakes (2) in which the planes are orientated parallel to one another. The laminate has a pair (p1) of oppositely arranged faces which are oriented parallel to the planes of the graphene oxide flakes, a pair (p2) of oppositely arranged faces which are oriented perpendicular to the planes of the graphene oxide flakes, and a pair (p3) of oppositely arranged faces which are oriented perpendicular to the planes of the graphene oxide flakes. The laminate membrane is enclosed by an encapsulating material (m1) that covers each of the pair (p1) and each of the pair (p2). The pair (p3) is either not enclosed or enclosed by an encapsulating material (m2). The encapsulating material is porous. USE - Water filtration membrane used in filtration device for removal of sodium chloride from water (all claimed). Can also be used for purification of water for drinking and watering crops, purification of wastewater from industry to prevent environmental damage, removal of salt from sea water for drinking water or for use in industry, purification of brackish water, removal of radioactive ions from water used in nuclear enrichment, nuclear power generation and nuclear clean-up, removal of environmentally-hazardous substances from industrial waste waters, and removal of biological pathogens from contaminated or suspect drinking water. ADVANTAGE - The water filtration membrane is physically constrained. The membrane exhibits improved rejection of certain salts (e.g. sodium chloride) when compared to the laminate membranes which are not encapsulated. By encapsulating the laminate in an atmosphere having a specific relative humidity, the size of the d-spacing can be tuned. No electrical potential is applied across the membrane, in order to modify the transport of ions through the membrane. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: (1) method of reducing the amount of solute(s) in an aqueous mixture to produce a liquid depleted in the solute(s); and (2) production of membrane. DESCRIPTION OF DRAWING(S) - The drawing shows a schematic view of the water filtration membrane. Membrane (1,4,5) Graphene oxide flakes (2) Graphene oxide laminate (3)
