NOVELTY - Preparation of granular carbon material supported gold catalyst, involves: 1) dissolving gold precursor in water to obtain dipping liquid A, mixing adhesive with water to obtain adhesive solution B, then mixing the dipping liquid A and solution B to obtain solution C; 2) uniformly mixing solution C with powdered carbon material, extruding and forming, then drying to obtain gold catalyst precursor D; 3) heat-treating the gold catalyst precursor D, under inert gas atmosphere and cooling to room temperature. USE - Method is used for preparing granular carbon material supported gold catalyst used in acetylene hydrochlorination reaction for preparing vinyl chloride (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The catalyst is prepared by using powdery carbon material to introduce active component in the forming process, through the interaction of coordination functional group in the adhesive and gold, in the forming process, so that the gold species in the catalyst, are better dispersed to increase the number of active sites in the catalyst, so that the acetylene hydrochlorination activity and stability of the gold catalyst, are improved. The method enables to directly prepare the powdered carbon into shaped catalyst suitable for use in fixed bed acetylene hydrochlorination reaction. The production process is a simple method which enables continuous production, without waste liquid generation. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for the use of granular carbon material supported gold catalyst in acetylene hydrochlorination reaction for preparing vinyl chloride.
