NOVELTY - Resin composition comprises 0.8-3.5 pts. wt. thermoplastic phenol resin, 0.05-1.5 pts. wt. liquid thermosetting phenolic resin, 0.024-0.35 pts. wt. curing agent, and 0.5-15 pts. wt. additive, the additive comprises one of a metal oxide, silicon carbide, high purity silicon or graphene. USE - Resin composition is used for producing coated sand (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The resin composition synergistically cooperates with each other, and under the condition of ensuring good mechanical properties, the dosage of the conventional curing agent is reduced, so that the emission of malodorous gasses such as ammonia gas during the core making process is greatly reduced, reduces harm to the human body, reduces pollution to the environment, and meets environmental protection requirements. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for method for preparing coated sand, which involves: (A) adding a thermoplastic phenolic resin to the preheated aggregate to melt the thermoplastic phenolic resin, and then adding a liquid thermosetting phenolic resin, an additive, an optional isolating absorbent, a curing agent and a lubricant to obtain a coated sand; (B) preferably, after melting thermoplastic phenolic resin, first adding the liquid thermosetting phenolic resin, then adding additive and optional isolating absorbent, curing agent and the lubricant; (C) preferably, after adding the curing agent and the lubricant, performing cooling, crushing and sieving to obtain a coated sand; (D) preferably, preheating the aggregate to 130-160 degrees C, preferably 140-150 degrees C; (E) preferably, adding liquid thermosetting phenolic resin and stirring for 10-50 seconds, preferably 20-40 seconds; (F) preferably, adding additive and the optional isolating absorbent and stirring for 5-30 seconds, preferably 10-20 seconds; and (G) preferably, the curing agent is an aqueous solution, and the curing agent has a mass concentration of 30-50%.
