NOVELTY - A non-metallic photocatalyst comprises carboxylated graphene oxide sheet layer, and polythiophene or polythiophene derivative (I) or (II) grown on the surface of the carboxylated graphene oxide sheet layer. USE - Non-metallic photocatalyst used in photocatalytic reaction (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The non-metallic photocatalyst is prepared by simple and economical method with high efficiency on large scale, and does not doped with noble metal, and is economical than the traditional photocatalyst. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - A non-metallic photocatalyst comprises carboxylated graphene oxide sheet layer, and polythiophene or polythiophene derivative of formula (I) or (II) grown on the surface of the carboxylated graphene oxide sheet layer. R1,R2 = H, alkyl, alkoxy, or ester;and n1,n2 = 100-10000. An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for preparation of the non-metallic photocatalyst, which involves (S1) preparing an aqueous graphene oxide solution by the Hummers method, (S2) hydroxylating an ether group of graphene oxide in the aqueous solution of graphene oxide, refluxing to obtain a hydroxylated modified graphene, (S3) carboxylating a hydroxyl group of the hydroxylated modified graphene to obtain a carboxylated modified graphene, and (S4) growing the compound (I) or (II) on the surface of the carboxylated modified graphene.
