NOVELTY - A composite material comprises carbon reinforcement filler and matrix material comprising 0.1-100 wt.% functionalized graphene nanoplatelets having amine groups formed on surface of graphene and epoxide groups formed on edge of graphene nanoplatelets. USE - Composite material used in manufacture of aerospace components (claimed) e.g. aircraft ribs, spars, panels, fuselages, wings, wing boxes, fuel tanks, tail assemblies etc. Can also be used for boats, satellites, space launch vehicles, trains, automobiles, trucks and buses. ADVANTAGE - The composite material has high strength, stiffness and modulus. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for method (200) of increasing strength of composite material, which involves mixing (206) functionalized graphene nanoplatelets and resin matrix material to form graphene-resin mixture, combining (208) graphene-resin mixture with carbon reinforcement fibers to form prepreg material and curing (210) prepreg material to form composite material.
