NOVELTY - An organic magnetic material contains magnetic graphene (1) formed by subjecting at least one edge portion of graphene to chemical modification to produce magnetic asymmetry between the edge portions of graphene. USE - Organic magnetic material. Uses include but are not limited to recording medium e.g. magnetic tape and hard disk, electrode of lithium ion battery, magnetic polarizing film and normal-temperature magnetic semiconductor device. ADVANTAGE - The organic magnetic material is lightweight, exhibits spontaneous magnetization even at normal temperature, ferromagnetism or ferrimagnetism characteristics, and is economically manufactured in high yield. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for manufacture of organic magnetic material, which involves producing graphene having molecular weight higher than the molecular weight of target, making an edge of high-molecular-weight graphene into a terminal group (a) by performing modification process, crushing the modified high-molecular-weight graphene and making the other edge of graphene into a terminal group (b) by carrying out modification process.
