NOVELTY - Electrode, comprises a self-supporting layer of a mixture of graphene sheets and spacer particles and/or binder particles, where the electrode is prepared without using water, solvent, or liquid chemical. USE - The electrode is useful for an electrochemical energy storage device such as battery or a super capacitor. ADVANTAGE - The electrode can be easily prepared with high yield and without using water, solvent, liquid chemical, or processing aid in an inexpensive manner. The durable, highly reliable dry electrode provides energy storage device with high charge storage capacitance or lithium storage capacity. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for: (1) an electrochemical energy storage device containing the electrode; and (2) a solvent-free process of manufacturing the electrode comprising (a) mixing dry graphene sheets and dry binder/spacer particles into a dry mixture, where multiple binder/spacer particles are disposed between two graphene sheets or adhered to a graphene surface and (b) forming the dry mixture into a self-supporting electrode layer without using water, solvent, or liquid chemical.
