NOVELTY - Anode material comprises composite made of silicon particles or silicon compound particles containing microcrystalline silicon, and a conductive carbon-based material; and a silane coupling agent coated on the surface of the composite. USE - The anode material is useful in anode for lithium-ion secondary battery (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The anode material improves cycle characteristics by mitigating volume change in lithium adsorption/desorption process, adjusts battery design due to charge/discharge capacity in battery, and improves energy density while maintaining good cycle characteristics compared to existing anode material. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for: (1) producing anode material comprising either: (a) mixing silicon particles or silicon compound particles including microcrystalline silicon, and conductive carbon-based material under a high shear force to form composite, and (b) adding and kneading an aqueous solution of silane coupling agent to the composite, or mixing silicon particles or silicon compound particles containing microcrystalline silicon, conductive carbon-based material, and aqueous solution of silane coupling agent under high shear force; (2) anode comprising anode material and current collector; and (3) lithium-ion secondary battery comprising cathode, anode, and electrolyte.
