NOVELTY - Preparing modified graphene oxide involves adding the graphene oxide dispersion to a stirrer, adding polyethyleneimine under high-speed stirring, then adjusting the pH to 14 and stirring to obtain the mixed solution, and then adjusting the pH of the mixed solution to 5.5, adding 1-ethyl-(3-dimethylaminopropyl) carbodiimide hydrochloride and N-hydroxysuccinimide compound, and sonicating in a water bath to get a mixture. The mixture is stirred in an ice water bath, and then subjected to centrifugal washing to obtain a solid i.e. modified graphene oxide. USE - Method for preparing modified graphene oxide for preparing a waterborne polyurethane/modified graphene nanocomposite emulsion used in field of coatings, adhesives, inks, surface treatment agents, elastomers, foam materials or functional films (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method improves the dispersibility of graphene in aqueous polyurethane by greatly improving the conductivity of the composite emulsion. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a method for preparing a waterborne polyurethane/modified graphene nanocomposite emulsion, which involves dropping an aqueous polyurethane prepolymer into a modified graphene oxide dispersion.
