NOVELTY - Preparation of functionalized graphene-supported nickel-palladium bimetallic nanocatalyst involves adding graphene to water to obtain 1-5 mg/mL graphene aqueous solution, carrying out ultrasonic treatment for 20-90 minutes to obtain homogeneous graphene aqueous solution, adding 3-aminopropyl-3-ethoxysilane, carrying out ultrasonic treatment, stirring to prepare mixed solution, dissolving palladium chloride and sodium chloride at molar ratio of 1:2 in distilled water and stirring to obtain 0.01-0.5 M aqueous solution of tan-colored sodium tetrachloropalladate. USE - Method for preparing functionalized graphene-supported nickel-palladium bimetallic nanocatalyst used for catalyzing hydrolysis of formic acid to hydrogen at room temperature (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method is simple, effective, low-cost, short synthesis time and low synthesis temperature. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Preparation of functionalized graphene-supported nickel-palladium bimetallic nanocatalyst comprises adding graphene to water to obtain 1-5 mg/mL graphene aqueous solution, carrying out ultrasonic treatment for 20-90 minutes to obtain homogeneous graphene aqueous solution, adding 3-aminopropyl-3-ethoxysilane, carrying out ultrasonic treatment, stirring to prepare mixed solution, dissolving palladium chloride and sodium chloride at molar ratio of 1:2 in distilled water, stirring to obtain 0.01-0.5 M aqueous solution of tan-colored sodium tetrachloropalladate, adding nickel salt and aqueous solution of sodium tetrachloropalladate to the mixed solution where molar ratio of nickel and palladium is 1:9-9:1, stirring, adding 30-150 mg sodium borohydride, magnetically stirring, cooling to room temperature, centrifuging and washing. An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for application of functionalized graphene-supported nickel-palladium bimetallic nanocatalyst comprising dispersing catalyst in water, adding formic acid aqueous solution, performing hydrolysis to produce hydrogen and measuring volume of hydrogen gas produced through gas measuring tube.
