NOVELTY - Cathode active materials comprises a carbon-based base material, a silicon layer formed on the carbon-based base material, a graphene provided on the outside of the silicon layer, and carbon nanotubes provided on the outside of the silicon layer. USE - The cathode active materials are useful for secondary batteries (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The cathode active material secures a higher battery capacity than a conventional black-based cathode active material, reduces the problem of volume expansion of the electrode due to expansion/contraction of silicon and suppresses the risk of electrical short-circuiting of the cathode active material from the electrode, suppresses deterioration of the cathode material of the secondary battery due to damage to the silicon layer, and prevents an electrical short circuit from occurring between the particles in the electrode. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for: cathode comprising cathode active material for secondary battery; econdary battery, comprising an anode and an electrolyte positioned between the cathode and the anode; and manufacturing the cathode active materials, comprising forming a silicon layer on the carbon-based base material, and coating graphene on the outside of the silicon layer, covering the graphene, and configuring carbon nanotubes to be mixed together on the outside of the silicon layer.
