NOVELTY - p-Phenyl di(3,4-dicyano phenyl) thioether polymeric iron phthalocyanine (I) comprising 3,4-dicyano phenyl iron phthalocyanine and dithiohydroquinone which are connected by a covalent bond, is new. USE - New p-phenyl di(3,4-dicyano phenyl) thioether polymeric iron phthalocyanine is used in preparation of nitrogen/sulfur double-doped graphene-loaded iron sulfide nanocrystals (claimed) for cathode catalyst of proton exchange membrane fuel cell. ADVANTAGE - The p-phenyl di(3,4-dicyano phenyl) thioether polymeric iron phthalocyanine provides catalyst having excellent activity in oxygen reduction. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - p-Phenyl di(3,4-dicyano phenyl) thioether polymeric iron phthalocyanine of formula (I) comprising 3,4-dicyano phenyl iron phthalocyanine and dithiohydroquinone which are connected by a covalent bond, is new. INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: (1) preparation of compound (I), which involves mixing 4-nitro-phthalonitrile, dithiol terephthalic acid, anhydrous potassium carbonate and N,N-dimethylformamide in a molar ratio of 1:2:2:259 -260 in nitrogen atmosphere, cooling to room temperature, adding deionized water, filtering, washing obtained product with ethanol, drying, mixing resultant terephthaloyl(3,4 cyanophenyl)sulfide monomer with ferrous chloride tetrahydrate, 1,8-diazabicyclo(5.4.0)undec-7-ene and n-pentanol in a molar ratio of 1:2:13-13.5:739-740 at 160 degrees C for 6 hours, cooling to room temperature, filtering, sequentially washing with N,N-dimethylformamide, water and ethanol, and drying; and (2) usage of compound (I) in preparation of nitrogen/sulfur double-doped graphene-loaded iron sulfide (Fe9S10) nanocrystals.
