NOVELTY - Iridium-ruthenium alloy catalyst comprises: a support containing a metal layer formed on the graphene oxide having conductivity and the graphene oxide; and iridium-ruthenium alloy nanoparticles supported on the support. USE - The iridium-ruthenium alloy catalyst is useful for electrodes and membrane electrode assembly for water electrolysis, and for water cell (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The iridium-ruthenium alloy catalyst has excellent corrosion resistance, excellent electrical conductivity, high durability and high specific surface area. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for preparing the iridium-ruthenium alloy catalyst, comprising (a) mixing a first metal precursor, nitric acid and distilled water to obtain a first metal nanoparticle sol, (b) preparing a first metal-graphene oxide sol mixture by mixing the first metal nanoparticle sol and the graphene oxide sol, (c) carrying out thermal decomposition of the first metal-graphene oxide sol by spray pyrolysis to obtain a support in which a metal layer is formed on the graphene oxide, and (d) preparing iridium and ruthenium precursor solution, and adding the support into the solution.
