NOVELTY - Method for purifying graphene oxide obtained in the process of graphite oxidation, involves obtaining graphene oxide from 20 g graphite after the reaction, filtering the liquid reaction components, transferring to a separate vessel to which a metal hydroxide solution from the group of metals is added, contained in the first or second group of the periodic table of elements, which after conversion to the concentration of hydroxyl groups (OH-) would be 1 mole until a neutral pH of 7 is obtained, intensively stirring the mixture of graphene oxide and hydroxide for 1 hour, filtering the mixture, pouring the obtained graphene oxide precipitate of 4 dm3 distilled water into not greater than 3 times, mixing intensively on a mechanical agitator, filtering the solution, adding a mineral acid solution with a pH greater than or equal to 3 and a hydrogen ion concentration of 0.01 M in the amount of 4 dm3 to the obtained graphene oxide precipitate, filtering, and drying the graphene oxide precipitate added transferred.
