NOVELTY - The additive manufacturing system has a first pool (102) provided with an active solution to form a first printed portion of a workpiece. The active solution is provided with a solvent, an activation seed soluble in the solvent, and a photocurable resin. A photocurable resin is provided to form a second printed portion of the workpiece. A light source (106) is configured to provide light. A mask (108) is configured to be arranged such that the light provided by the light source is irradiated onto the workpiece through the mask. A third pool (110) is provided with a cleaning solution for cleaning the workpiece. The first printed portion is provided with the activation seed that is configured to form a metallic layer through an electroless deposition process thus forming the composite structure. USE - Additive manufacturing system for forming a composite structure used in areas such as electronics with various conductive materials, including metallic nanoparticles, graphene, multi-walled carbon nanotubes and carbon black. ADVANTAGE - The additive manufacturing system is capable of economically forming the composite structure with high printing accuracy and performance, and reduces size requirements relative to standard planar printed electronics thus permitting the further miniaturization of functional devices.
