NOVELTY - A graphene-based membrane comprises monolayer graphene (100) containing defects, deposition layer (200) disposed on defects, and nanopores (P) surrounded by deposition layer. USE - A graphene-based membrane used as reverse osmosis membrane, forward osmosis membrane, microfiltration membrane, ultrafiltration membrane or nanofiltration membrane. ADVANTAGE - The graphene-based membrane can increase water treatment rate, therefore improving process efficiency. Desalination of saltwater can be efficiently achieved at low cost. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for manufacture of graphene-based membrane which involves forming monolayer graphene sheet and partially forming deposition layer on graphene sheet.
