NOVELTY - Use of nitrogen doped graphene catalyst is claimed for oxidizing sulfur dioxide in electrochemical oxidation reaction. USE - Nitrogen doped graphene catalyst used for oxidizing sulfur dioxide in electrochemical oxidation reaction (claimed), and in electrochemical desulfurization in air purification area. ADVANTAGE - The nitrogen doped graphene catalyst is prepared in simple and cost-effective manner, has excellent electrochemical catalytic activity. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for: (1) a method for preparing nitrogen doped graphene catalyst, which involves dissolving carbon-containing precursor and nitrogen-containing carbon precursor in water to obtain mixed solution, heating the obtained solution at 60-80 degrees C to obtain solid, keeping the obtained solid under nitrogen or argon atmosphere, heating the obtained material at 700-1000 degrees C at a heating speed of 5 degrees C per minute, and baking the heated material for 1-4 hours and then cooling the baked material to obtain the desired product; and (2) a method for oxidizing sulfur dioxide using catalyst, which involves utilizing 0.5 mole per liter sulfuric acid solution, 0.5 mole per liter sodium sulfite solution, and electrode having electric oxidation scanning range 0-1.4 Volt.
