NOVELTY - Use of graphene oxide for adsorbing asphaltene hetero-compounds in a bitumen-rich stream within a bitumen froth treatment process, is claimed. USE - Use of graphene oxide in the form of sheet, ribbon, cap, or dot for adsorbing asphaltene hetero-compounds e.g. sulfur and nitrogen components attached to aromatic hydrocarbon molecules in bitumen-rich stream within bitumen froth treatment process (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The graphene oxide is chemically doped with adatoms or functionalized with metallic or non-metallic functional groups for improving surface adsorption properties and selectivity. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for method for adsorbing asphaltene hetero-compounds using the graphene oxide.
