NOVELTY - Self-supporting lithium-sulfur battery anode material comprises graphene/sulfur sponge having rich pore structure. The graphene/sulfur sponge comprises graphene and sulfur particles coated with graphene sponges. USE - Used as self-supporting lithium-sulfur battery anode material. ADVANTAGE - The material: has strong chemical adsorption effect on polysulfide; inhibits loss of polysulfide; and improves cycle performance and capacity of battery. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for: (1) preparing the anode material comprising, (i) adding sodium thiosulfate to dispersion of graphene oxide water, and ultrasonically dispersing to obtain a mixture A, (ii) adding diluted hydrochloric acid into the mixture A until the pH value is less than or equal to 7 to obtain mixture B, (iii) adding reducing agent into the mixture B to obtain mixture C, (iv) low-temperature hydrothermal reacting the mixture C to obtain a graphene/sulfur hydrogel, and (v) freezing and drying the graphene/sulfur hydrogel; and (2) use of the graphene/sulfur sponge comprising, cutting graphene/sulfur sponge into needed standard thickness, pressing and directly using as lithium sulfur battery anode material.
