NOVELTY - Preparing iron-carbon composite material involves mixing ferric chloride and the carbon material, ammonia water and a shielding agent in the precursor solution to obtain a mixed solution, where the shielding agent includes methanol, ethanol and isopropanol, irradiating the mixed solution, so that the mixed solution generates an iron-carbon composite under the irradiation. The treated mixed solution is suction-filtered and dried to obtain a product. USE - Method for preparing iron-carbon composite material used to the removal of organic pollutants in water bodies, and/or to the removal of uranium in water bodies (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method enables to prepare iron-carbon composite material in simple manner. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a method for using an iron-carbon composite material, which involves: adding the chemical oxidant and the iron-carbon composite material into the water body containing organic pollutants, reacting for 5-90 minutes under the conditions of a reaction temperature of 15-85℃ and a reaction pH of 3-10, to remove the organic pollutants in the water body organic pollutants, where the chemical oxidizing agent includes hydrogen peroxide, persulfate and peracetic acid, the molar ratio of the chemical oxidant to the organic pollutant is greater than or equal to 5:1-20:1, and the dosage of the iron-carbon composite material is 0.1-100 g/L.
