NOVELTY - A face mask comprises a mask component to cover at least the wearer's mouth and nose, the mask component having an inner side facing towards the wearer, and a fastener to hold the mask in place on the wearer's face, and including a portion that engages with the mask component and a portion that engages with the wearer, where the mask component comprises an air-permeable outer layer, an inner layer located on an inner side of the mask component, and a graphene layer that is arranged in the mask component, where the graphene layer comprises of discrete single-layer or few-layer graphene sheets chosen from pristine graphene, graphene oxide, reduced graphene oxide, graphene fluoride, graphene chloride, graphene bromide, graphene iodide, hydrogenated graphene, nitrogenated graphene, doped graphene, and chemically functionalized graphene, and the fastener connects the mask component to the wearer. USE - Face mask e.g. surgical face mask, respirators and N95 face mask. ADVANTAGE - The face mask has excellent effect of removing and neutralizing harmful virus from inhaled air contaminated with such virus, and from contaminated air exhaled from patients infected with such virus. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: (1) a filtration material, which comprises a layer of woven or nonwoven fabric having two primary surfaces and a graphene layer deposited on at least one of the two primary surfaces or embedded in the layer of woven or nonwoven fabric; (2) a filtration device, which comprises the filtration material as the filtration component; and (3) production of the filtration, which involves preparing a layer of woven or nonwoven fabric having two primary surfaces, and depositing a graphene layer on at least one of the two primary surfaces.
