NOVELTY - Preparation of alkenyl phosphonic acid compound (I) involves reacting alkyne compound (II) and phosphonic acid compound (III) in the presence of a heterogeneous catalyst and an optional additive. The heterogeneous catalyst comprises a carrier and a transition metal compound. The carrier is one or more of activated carbon, nitrogen-doped activated carbon, graphene, graphite oxide, graphite, carbon nanotubes, silicon carbide and silicon dioxide-carbon composite material. USE - Preparation of compound (I) for water treatment, fuel cell, metal treatments, dental ceramics, cement, adhesion promoter, and flame retardant and oilfield application (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method easily separates the catalyst and the reaction mixture and can realize continuous production of compound (I).
