NOVELTY - Production of graphene involves: forming a carbon containing layer on a support substrate; forming a noble metal containing layer onto the carbon containing layer, heating the carbon containing layer and noble metal containing layer over a predetermined time period to a temperature in the range of 350-1000 degrees C; and cooling or allowing to cool the heated material during which time a graphene layer will form on the surface of the heated material. USE - The method is useful for producing graphene (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method allows the formation of graphene on a substrate in a simple and convenient manner.
