NOVELTY - Producing graphene nanoribbons from carbon nanotubes is disclosed. USE - The method is useful for producing graphene nanoribbons that are used as additive for producing a lubricant system. ADVANTAGE - The graphene nanoribbon additive provides the lubricant system that can reduce the friction coefficient to nearly 50% as compared to commercial non-additive lubricant systems.
