NOVELTY - The electrode assembly has a pair of electrodes (2) that are provided on opposite surfaces of electrolyte membrane (1). The electrolyte membrane comprises a ceria and phosphoric acid functionalized graphene oxide (20). The electrolyte membrane comprises a perfluorinated sulfonic acid (PFSA) ionomer. The ceria is dispersed on surface of graphene oxide and the phosphoric acid is bonded to oxygen element contained in functional group of the graphene oxide. The electrolyte membrane comprises 0.01 to 20.0 weight percent of the functionalized graphene oxide. The reinforcing layer comprises any selected from the group consisting of polytetrafluoroethylene, expanded polytetrafluoroethylene, polyethylene, polypropylene, polyphenylene oxide, polybenzimidazole, polyimide, polyvinylidene fluoride and polyvinyl chloride. USE - Membrane electrode assembly for fuel cells. ADVANTAGE - The water uptake rate of electrolyte membrane is increased, and the proton conductivity and chemical resistance of the electrolyte membrane are improved.
