NOVELTY - Electrolyte comprises lithium salt, organic solvent and additive, where the additive comprises 0.01-3 wt.% p-fluorobenzonitrile and 0.1-5 wt.% benzenesulfonyl isocyanate compound (I). USE - The electrolyte is useful in lithium-ion batteries (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The electrolyte improves the high-temperature storage gas production performance and low-temperature cycle performance of the lithium-ion battery. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Electrolyte comprises lithium salt, organic solvent and additive, where the additive comprises 0.01-3 wt.% p-fluorobenzonitrile and 0.1-5 wt.% benzenesulfonyl isocyanate compound of formula (I). Either R1-R5= H, halo, 1-5C alkyl, 1-5C sulfite-containing alkyl, 1-5C silicon-oxygen bond-containing alkyl, 1-5C alkoxy or 1-5C halogenated alkoxy; Or R1-R5= -H, methyl, -F, -Cl, -Br, trimethylsilyl, 3,3,3-trifluoropropyl or ethyl sulfite. An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for lithium-ion battery comprising anode active material, cathode active material and electrolyte.
