NOVELTY - Manufacture of pristine graphene (5) involves providing kish graphite (1), optionally pre-treating kish graphite, synthesizing pristine grahene by intercalation of kish graphite with a nitrate salt and an acid to obtain intercalated kish graphite (2), thermal expansion of the intercalated kish graphite to obtain expanded kish graphite (3), exfoliating by ultrasonication to obtain exfoliated kish, separating the unexfoliated kish graphite. USE - Manufacture of pristine graphene for deposition on metallic substrate and as cooling agent (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method is simple, environmentally friendly, and provides pristine graphene with high purity. The pristine graphene improves the corrosion resistance of metallic substrate. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for pristine graphene, which comprises one single layer of carbon atoms bonded together in a honeycomb lattice comprising less than 5% oxygen groups, less than 5% nitrogen groups, and less than 2% hydrogen atoms.
