NOVELTY - The optical modulator has an optical fiber whose portion of the surface is provided with the graphene. The optical fiber is half-plane fiber, single hole fiber or porous optical fiber. The optical fiber includes a cladding and a fiber core. The fiber core is the hollow core, a solid core, or is filled with the materials different from the cladding in the hollow core. The optical fiber is a single hole or porous fiber. The graphene is coated on the inner wall of the optical fiber hole or the surface of the optical fiber or the inner wall of the optical fiber hole and the surface of the optical fiber are simultaneously coated with graphene. USE - Graphene-based optical modulator used in optical fiber communication, sensors, lidar, optical integration system, all-optical communication and other fields. ADVANTAGE - The optical modulator is provided in small size, wide frequency band of operation, wide working range and fast response speed, easily couples with the optical fiber optical path system and favorable for optical integration. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a modulation method of the graphene-based optical modulator.
