NOVELTY - Manufacture of double rare-earth metal oxide-graphene composite involves mixing 5-10 mL deionized water and 10-40 mL ethanol, adding 12 mg graphene oxide powder, yttrium nitrate hexahydrate and cerium nitrate hexahydrate, mixing, adding 0.1-0.5 g polyvinyl pyrrolidone, stirring, reacting the mixture at 160-180 degrees C for 16-20 hours in an autoclave, centrifuging the reaction product, washing with ethanol to remove unreacted polyvinylpyrrolidone, and deionized water to remove unreacted inorganic ions until pH of the solution is more than 6.8 and drying at 60-80 degrees C for 5-8 hours in oven. USE - Manufacture of double rare-earth metal oxide-graphene composite useful as photocatalyst. ADVANTAGE - The method enables manufacture of double rare-earth metal oxide-graphene composite with excellent photocatalytic property. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Manufacture of double rare-earth metal oxide-graphene composite involves mixing 2 g graphite powder and 1-2 g sodium nitrate with 30-40 mL 98%-concentrated sulfuric acid, stirring in ice bath for 2 hours, adding 3-5 g potassium permanganate, stirring uniformly, placing the mixture in water bath at 35 degrees C, stirring for 2-3 hours, removing the mixture from water bath, adding 30-50 mL deionized water, heating, stirring for 2-3 hours, cooling to room temperature, adding 100-300 mL deionized water, solid-liquid separating the mixture, adding 50-150 mL hydrogen peroxide, washing the mixture with 3-5% hydrochloric acid 3-5 times, and deionized water 3-5 times until the pH is 6.8 or more, centrifuging the solid-liquid mixture to obtain solid graphene oxide, drying the graphene oxide solid for 15-18 hours at 50-80 degrees C, grinding to obtain graphene oxide powder, mixing 5-10 mL deionized water and 10-40 mL ethanol, adding 12 mg resulting graphene oxide powder, yttrium nitrate hexahydrate and cerium nitrate hexahydrate, mixing until yttrium nitrate hexahydrate and cerium nitrate hexahydrate are completely dissolved, adding 0.1-0.5 g polyvinyl pyrrolidone, stirring, reacting the mixture at 160-180 degrees C for 16-20 hours in an autoclave, centrifuging the reaction product, washing with ethanol to remove unreacted polyvinylpyrrolidone, and deionized water to remove unreacted inorganic ions until pH of the solution is more than 6.8 and drying at 60-80 degrees C for 5-8 hours in oven.
