NOVELTY - Expandable polystyrene bead comprises 13.8-17.3 wt.% styrene monomer, 3.5-5.5 wt.% less expandable layer graphene, 0.52-1.1 wt.% calcium phosphate, 0.03-0.05 wt.% polyvinyl alcohol, 0.3-4 wt.% benzoyl peroxide, 0.35-0.55 wt.% foaming agent, and 76-77 wt.% deionized water. USE - Used as expandable polystyrene bead. ADVANTAGE - The polystyrene bead has high infrared reflectivity, thermal insulation property and thermal conductivity value of 0.028-0.032 W /(m/K). DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for preparation of expandable polystyrene bead comprising (i) taking 1000-5000 mesh average particle size natural flake graphite as anode, Titanium metal plate as cathode, 98wt.% concentrated sulfuric acid as intercalation agent, and electrochemically intercalating at 1.8 V for 0.5-2 hours to obtain graphite intercalation compound, (ii) soaking in 98wt.% concentrated sulfuric acid solution and peeling at 1000 W for 05-1.5 hours to obtain less expandable graphene layer, (iii) intercalating (2 times) with 98wt.% concentrated sulfuric acid as intercalating agent and 30wt.% hydrogen peroxide as oxidant at room temperature for 30 minutes, washing with water until pH of 4-6 and drying at 100 degrees C for 2 hours, and (iv) introducing 13.8-17.3wt.% styrene, 0.3-4wt.% benzoyl peroxide and 3.5-5.5wt.% less expandable graphene layer into the reaction kettle, stirring at 210-300 revolutions/minute for 30 minutes, adding 0.52-1.1wt.% inorganic dispersant hydroxyapatite and 0.03-0.05wt.% organic dispersant polyvinyl alcohol, polymerizing at 87-90 degrees C for 6-11 hours, adding 0.2-0.8wt.% hydroxyapatite and 0.35-0.55wt.% foaming agent, heating to 110-135 degrees C for 3-5 hours, filtering to obtain granular material, and drying at 30-50 degrees C for 1-3 hours.
