NOVELTY - A magnetic- beta -cyclodextrin-graphene oxide composite comprises oxidized graphene, and magnetic nanoparticles and beta -cyclodextrin loaded on surface of the composites. USE - Magnetic- beta -cyclodextrin-graphene oxide composite is used as adsorbent in removal of pharmaceuticals and personal care products in wastewater (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The magnetic- beta -cyclodextrin-graphene oxide composite has high adsorption performance and can be quickly reused and reclaimed by external magnetic field and is environmentally-friendly. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: (1) preparation of magnetic- beta -cyclodextrin-graphene oxide composite, which involves grafting beta -cyclodextrin onto magnetic nanoparticles using glutaraldehyde and cross-linking oxidized graphene matrix with the magnetic- beta -cyclodextrin through an activated carboxyl group; and (2) use of magnetic- beta -cyclodextrin-graphene oxide composite in wastewater treatment.
