NOVELTY - Graphene tape suitable for applying on a target surface, comprises (a) a support layer, and (b) a first nanocomposite layer comprising a thin film layer and a graphene layer, where the thin film layer is set between the support layer and the graphene layer. USE - The graphene tape useful for applying on a target surface (claimed), preferably substrates including silicon wafer, glass, quartz, mica, polyethylene terephthalate (PET) or polyimide foils and paper or other flat surface, large scale fabrication of graphene devices and device encapsulation, and useful in composite devices. ADVANTAGE - The graphene tape: is suitable for large-area application of graphene on a surface; can boost mass production of products and applications based on graphene and/or other nanomaterials, and boost device fabrication strategies based on tape application; has high mechanical, electronic, chemical, optical or thermal properties; comprises non-sacrificial thin film, which mechanically and chemically protect the graphene layer while the fabrication and application of the tape; does not cause mechanical damage and/or contaminate the graphene layer when a sacrificial layer is used to transfer grapheme; and is free of defects or residues. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for forming a graphene tape, comprising (a) providing a substrate, (b) forming a graphene layer on the substrate, (c) depositing a thin film layer on the graphene layer, (d) applying a supporting layer on the thin film layer, and (e) removing the substrate.
