NOVELTY - A modified graphene (I) having a ratio of intensity of a G band with respect to intensity of a D band of 1 or more in a Raman spectroscopy spectrum, is new. USE - New modified graphene is used for forming modified graphene-resin composite and modified graphene dispersion (all claimed). Uses include but are not limited to battery material, energy-storing material, electronic device component, and composite material. ADVANTAGE - The modified graphene has improved electrical characteristics, thermal characteristics, optical characteristics, and mechanical characteristics. The modified graphene has improved dispersibility in dispersion medium without impairing excellent electroconductivity and thermal conductivity inherent in graphene. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - A modified graphene of formula: Gr1-Ar1-X1-(Y1)n1 (I) having a ratio of intensity of a G band with respect to intensity of a D band of 1 or more in a Raman spectroscopy spectrum, is new. Gr1 = single-layer graphene or multilayer graphene; Ar1 = 6-18C arylene; X1 = single bond, linear, branched or cyclic 1-20C alkylene, or group (A) formed by substituting carbon atom(s) in linear, branched or cyclic 1-20C alkylene with -O-, -NH-, group of formula (i), -CO-, -COO-, -CONH- and/or arylene; Y1 = atom or group bonded to carbon atom(s) of Ar1 (when X1 is single bond), atom or group bonded to carbon atom in alkylene (when X1 is linear, branched or cyclic 1-20C alkylene), or H, fluoro, chloro, bromo, iodo, 1-6C fluoroalkyl, cyano, nitro, acyl, amido, vinyl, carboxylic acid group, group derived from carboxylic acid ester, phosphoric acid group, 3-6C alkylsilyl, 3-6C alkylsilyl ether, or siloxy (when X1 is group (A));and n1 = 1 or more. INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: (1) preparation of the modified graphene; (2) modified graphene-resin composite, which comprises the modified graphene and a resin; and (3) modified graphene dispersion, which comprises the modified graphene, and water and an organic solvent.
