NOVELTY - The preparation method of p-menthyl-3,8-diol involves taking citronellal as raw material, oxidized graphene as catalyst, and water as solvent, and performing cyclization hydration reaction. USE - Preparation method of p-menthyl-3,8-diol. ADVANTAGE - The method enables preparation of p-menthyl-3,8-diol with low requirements on equipment, by simple and environmentally-friendly processes. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for purification method of cis and trans configurations of p-menthyl-3,8-diol, which involves dissolving p-menthyl-3,8-diol obtained by cyclization hydration reaction in an organic solvent at 50-80 degrees C to obtain clear solution, where the organic solvent is ethyl acetate and/or n-hexane, lowering the temperature to room temperature, leaving still for crystallization, filtering, and drying to obtain cis-p-menthyl-3,8-diol, concentrating the mother liquor after crystallization filtration, and distilling under reduced pressure to obtain trans-p-menthyl-3,8-diol.
