NOVELTY - Polymer-graphene composite component comprises a composite structure with a foam core comprising a first polymer and 0.25-5 wt.% graphene, and an overmolded skin disposed on the foam core. The overmolded skin comprises a second polymer and graphene. USE - Polymer-graphene composite component. ADVANTAGE - The component has light weight, enhanced desired mechanical properties, exhibits an increase in flexural strength, elastic modulus, and energy absorption. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a method for manufacturing a component, which involves injection molding a foam core from a first polymer-graphene material with 0.25-5.0 wt.% graphene, where the foam core comprises an average pore size between 25-75 µm, and a pore density of about 4×106cells/mm2and about 6×106cells/mm2; and injection molding an overmolded skin on the foam core to form a composite structure, where the overmolded skin is formed from a second polymer-graphene material with 0.25-5.0 wt.% graphene.
