NOVELTY - Water-soluble columnarene modified amphiphilic graphene quantum dot comprises amphiphilic graphene quantum dots and water-soluble columnarene combined through hydrophobic interaction and electrostatic interaction. USE - The quantum dot is useful for cell imaging and biosensing (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method: is easy to operate and has excellent repeatability; prepares product which emit strong green fluorescence; enhances the fluorescence intensity after modification of the water-soluble columnar aromatic hydrocarbon; has higher affinity; makes it easier for quantum dots to penetrate cell membranes, which has low toxicity and biocompatibility. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for preparing the amphiphilic graphene quantum dots modified with water-soluble columnar aromatic hydrocarbons, comprising (i) preparing amphiphilic graphene quantum dots, (ii) preparing water-soluble columnar aromatic hydrocarbons, and (iii) mixing the amphiphilic graphene quantum dots with water-soluble columnar aromatic hydrocarbons in an aqueous solution, combining alkyl chains on the amphiphilic graphene quantum dots and the cavities of the columnar aromatic hydrocarbons through hydrophobic interaction, and combining cation-bearing ammonium salt on the columnar aromatic hydrocarbon and the hydroxy group on the amphiphilic graphene quantum dots through electrostatic interaction.
