NOVELTY - Preparing graphene flame retardant plastic master batch comprises (a) adding graphene oxide to aqueous ethanol solution, ultrasonically treating, adding tetraethyl orthosilicate, aqueous ammonia and magnesium aluminum carbonate type hydrotalcite, mechanically stirring and drying at room temperature to obtain nano silicon dioxide, graphene oxide nanosheet and hydrotalcite composite and (b) adding methyl methacrylate and initiator to the composite, mixing uniformly, coating polymethyl methacrylate on the surface of the composite by in-situ polymerization, cleaning, and spray drying. USE - The method is useful for preparing graphene flame retardant plastic master batch. ADVANTAGE - The method: generates nano silicon dioxide by in-situ hydrolysis on graphene oxide nanosheets, which ensures that the nano silicon dioxide can increase the dispersibility of the graphene oxide; and uses auxiliary hydrotalcite and polymethylmethacrylate inclusions on grapheme, which is beneficial to improve dispersibility and flame retardancy of the material.
