NOVELTY - A catalyst comprises palladium hydride (I) as active component, and carrier. The content of palladium is 0.01-2%. The carrier is chosen from alumina, silica, magnesium oxide, zinc oxide, zirconium oxide, titanium dioxide, metal organic frame compound, activated carbon, molecular sieve, carbon nanotube and graphene. USE - Catalyst is used for hydroformylating methyl nitrite for producing methyl formate (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The catalyst is efficiently prepared. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - A catalyst comprises palladium hydride of formula: PdHx (I) as active component, and carrier. The content of palladium is 0.01-2%. The carrier is alumina, silica, magnesium oxide, zinc oxide, zirconium oxide, titanium dioxide, metal organic frame compound, activated carbon, molecular sieve, carbon nanotube or graphene. x=0-0.8. INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: (1) preparation of catalyst, which involves soaking carrier into the water or ethanol, standing for 1-20 hours, drying for 1-20 hours at 100-200 degrees C, roasting at 200-600 degrees C for 1-20 hours, dipping carrier into palladium precursor, stirring uniformly, uniformly dispersing carrier into palladium precursor solution, ultrasonically heating mixture of palladium precursor and carrier to the solvent, uniformly absorbing palladium precursor into the carrier surface, drying sample at 100-200 degrees C for 1-20 hours, calcining at 200-600 degrees C for 1-20 hours, reducing obtained sample for 1-10 hours under hydrogen atmosphere and reducing temperature at 100-500 degrees C. The precursor is acetate, nitrate, halide or acetylacetonate salt; and (2) usage method of methyl formate, which involves providing the raw material containing 10-30% methyl ester, 10-30% carbon monoxide, 5-15% hydrogen and 25-75% nitrogen in the fixed bed reactor at 50-150 degrees C and air speed of 500-5000 h-1 under pressure of 0.01-2 MPa, and reacting on the catalyst surface.
