NOVELTY - An high influence light modulator comprises transparent conductive oxide layers (A) and (B) , photoconductive layer having 5.0% or less main impurities and 1.0% or less general impurities and positioned between the transparent conductive oxide layers (A) and (B ) and an electro-optical layer positioned in contact with the photoconductive layer. USE - High influence light modulator e.g. light valve for metal additive manufacturing system and power lasers. ADVANTAGE - The method enables utilizing the light modulator to allow extended usage of light modulators subjected to high optical influence in an effective manner. The method allows the light valve to withstand high influence laser sources for a prolonged period of time so as to allow the production of multiple build cycles within a typical shot count in the tens of millions to billions, where the printing of a two-dimensional area is equal to one frame off a light valve (LV) to a print bed, thus increasing lifetime of the LV in a metal additive manufacturing (AM) system in an efficient manner.
