NOVELTY - Antimicrobial nanocomposite composition, comprises: a styrene and a methyl methacrylate in a specific weight ratio; and a silver nitrate and a graphene powder in a specific weight/weight percentage. The nanocomposite composition is subjected to microwave irradiation to form a reduced graphene oxide polystyrene methyl methacrylate-silver nitrate nanoparticle nanocomposite. USE - The antimicrobial nanocomposite composition is useful for making a reduced-(graphene oxide-(polystyrene-poly(methyl methacrylate)))/silver nanoparticle nanocomposite, which is useful as a coating for a medical device, tube and articles that are exposed to bacterial contamination atmosphere for long durations (all claimed). The nanocomposite is useful in medicine to reduce infections, preferably bacterial infections in burn treatment and arthroplasty, and to prevent bacteria colonization on prostheses, dental materials, and bone cements. Test details are described but no results given. ADVANTAGE - The composition is capable of easily and efficiently making the nanocomposite with superior physical and chemical properties, and long-term antimicrobial activity. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for making an antimicrobial nanocomposite, comprising: sonicating a mixture of a specific weight of a graphene powder suspended in specific amount of water for 30 minutes; adding to the mixture a first monomer and a second monomer in a specific ratio and benzoyl peroxide at 5% to make a solution A, where the first monomer and the second monomer are never the same monomer; sonicating the solution A for 1 hour; hybridizing the solution A after sonication at 60 degrees C for 20 hours to produce a graphene-first monomer-second monomer composite; adding and sonicating a specific amount of hydrazine hydrate and silver nitrate to the graphene-first monomer-second monomer composite for an hour to form a mixture A; and reducing the mixture A by microwaving for two minutes to form a reduced-(graphene oxide-(polystyrene-poly(methyl methacrylate)))/silver nanoparticle nanocomposite.
