NOVELTY - Preparing graphene oxide, comprising e.g. (i) adding concentrated sulfuric acid, potassium persulfate, phosphorus pentoxide and graphite into three-mouth flask, heating to 80 degrees C slowly, and reacting for 5 hours to pre-oxidize the graphite, (ii) washing the pre-oxidized graphite until it is neutral, (iii) drying the obtained product, (iv) oxidizing the obtained pre-oxidized graphite using potassium permanganate, (v) adding deionized water, and reacting at 98 degrees C for 15 minutes, (vi) adding deionized water and hydrogen peroxide, and centrifuging, and (vii) washing the obtained solid, and drying. USE - The method is useful for preparing graphene oxide (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method: has convenient operation; and produces graphene oxide having excellent performance. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Preparing graphene oxide, comprising (i) adding 10 ml concentrated sulfuric acid, 1 g potassium persulfate, 1 g phosphorus pentoxide and 1 g graphite into 50 ml dry three-mouth flask, heating to 80 degrees C slowly, and reacting for 5 hours to pre-oxidize the graphite, (ii) washing the pre-oxidized graphite with deionized water for multiple times until it is neutral, (iii) drying the obtained product at 60 degrees C for 12 hours in a vacuum drying box, (iv) oxidizing the pre-oxidized graphite by Hummers method i.e. adding 40 ml concentrated sulfuric acid and graphite into 100 ml three-mouth flask, stirring uniformly, and placing in an ice water bath cooling system, then adding 4 g potassium permanganate slowly, heating to 35 degrees C slowly, and reacting for 2 hours, (v) adding deionized water, and reacting at 98 degrees C for 15 minutes, (vi) adding deionized water and 10 ml hydrogen peroxide, where the solution color becomes golden yellow, and centrifuging, (vii) washing the obtained solid for multiple times using dilute hydrochloric acid and deionized water respectively, and drying for 12 hours at 60 degrees C in a vacuum oven.
