NOVELTY - Synthesizing amine functionalized reduced graphene oxide, comprises: (a) dispersing graphene oxide in an organic solvent to form a first solution; (b) reacting the first solution with at least one amine, an activation crosslinker and a catalyst; (c) obtaining a product from step (b) by centrifugation; (d) dispersing the product in dimethylformamide to form a second solution; and (e) reducing the product in the second solution to form the amine functionalized reduced graphene oxide. USE - The method is useful for synthesizing amine functionalized reduced graphene oxide which is useful in sensor array for detecting at least one target chemical in a sample (claimed) and in diagnosis of disease of cancer and cardiovascular disease and food quality control, and in electronic device for detection of volatile and non-volatile chemical compounds. ADVANTAGE - The method provides the sensor array that has high sensitivity and is cost-effective. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for sensor array for detecting at least one target chemical in a sample, comprising many sensing elements, where each sensing element comprises amine functionalized reduced graphene oxide synthesized by the method using a different amine and sensing element exhibits a different resistance response when exposed to the target chemical to produce a response pattern specific to the target chemical.
