▎ 摘 要
NOVELTY - Surface-modified nano graphene platelet comprises: (a) a nano graphene platelet having a thickness smaller than 10 nm and two opposed surfaces; and (b) discrete, non-continuous and non-metallic bumps or nodules bonded to a surface of the graphene platelet to serve as a spacer. USE - The surface-modified nano graphene platelet is useful in: an electrochemical cell electrode; a supercapacitor; and a spacer-modified nano graphene platelet electrode (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - When multiple surface-modified nano graphene sheets are stacked together to form an electrode, large numbers of electrolyte-accessible pores are formed, enabling the formation of large amounts of double layer charges in a supercapacitor, which exhibits an exceptionally high specific capacitance. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for: (1) an electrochemical cell electrode comprising many surface-modified nano graphene platelets, where multiple platelets form a stack having pores between platelets; (2) a spacer-modified nano graphene platelet electrode comprising multiple nano graphene platelets having an average thickness smaller than 10 nm and discrete, non-metallic nano-scaled particles that are disposed between two graphene platelets to serve as a spacer; and (3) a supercapacitor comprising two electrodes, a porous separator disposed between the two electrodes and an electrolyte in physical contact with the two electrodes, where at least one of the two electrodes comprises the surface-modified nano graphene platelet or the electrochemical cell electrode or spacer-modified nano graphene platelet electrode as above per se.
