NOVELTY - Device comprises: a substrate; an anodic arc discharge device producing a flux stream and configured to deposit material from the flux stream on the substrate; and a collection device configured to remove the deposited material from the substrate. USE - The device is useful for synthesizing graphene (claimed) which is used in commercial applications such as for electrodes, batteries or super capacitors, fuel cells or composite materials. ADVANTAGE - The device produces graphene having uniform size, in bulk quantities at low cost. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for synthesizing graphene, comprising: providing heated substrate; depositing flux onto the heated substrate; and collecting the deposited flux from the heated substrate.
