NOVELTY - Chemical sensor element comprises a sensitive membrane, on which a recombinant olfactory receptor is immobilized, is provided on an insulating interface and source electrode and drain electrode provided in contact with the sensitive membrane. USE - The chemical sensor element is useful in chemical sensor array for detecting target substances in gas phase. The target substance is an odorant substance (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The chemical sensor element detects a target substance, such as an odorant substance, in a gas phase with highly sensitivity. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: a chemical sensor array for detecting target substances in gas phase comprising a chemical sensor element, and two or more types of immobilized recombinant olfactory receptors as an index, for each chemical sensor element mounted on the chemical sensor array, a wiring group connected to the source electrode, and a wiring group connected to the drain electrode so as to be electrically independent from each other and to enable electrical connection with the outside; chemical sensor system for detecting target substances in the gas phase comprising a scanning circuit electrically connected to the source electrode group of the chemical sensor array, and a detection circuit electrically connected to the drain electrode group, and unit provided above detection circuit for performing a computational process of receiving an electrical signal generated when the recombinant olfactory receptor immobilized on the chemical sensor element mounted on the chemical sensor array comes into contact with a substance in the gas phase, detecting substance from received electrical signal and displaying the substance derived by the computation process as a target substance; and a method for producing a chemical sensor element, involves providing a sensitive membrane to which a recombinant olfactory receptor is immobilized on an insulating interface, expressing gene encoding the olfactory receptor in a cell-free expression system to obtain a recombinant olfactory receptor, immobilizing the recombinant olfactory receptor on the sensitive membrane provided on the insulating interface and preparing a chemical sensor element provided with a sensitive membrane on which a recombinant olfactory receptor is immobilized.
