NOVELTY - Synthesis of graphene quantum dots involves fixing a graphene or graphene oxide aqueous solution (3) on a spin coater (2) to spin the graphene or graphene oxide aqueous solution comprising deionized water and multiple graphene or graphene oxide sheets, irradiating a pulsed laser from a laser source (1) to focus on the spinning of the graphene or graphene oxide aqueous solution, exfoliating the graphene or graphene oxide sheets of the graphene or graphene oxide aqueous solution and forming multiple quantum dots with nano-size in the graphene or graphene oxide aqueous solution. USE - Method is useful for synthesizing graphene quantum dots used for light sensors, single electron transistors, memories, catalysts, fluorescent labels, gene barcodes and protein barcodes applied for biological inspection and evaluation of cancer diagnosis and medication. ADVANTAGE - The method enables the synthesis of graphene quantum dots with high purity and biocompatibility in environmentally-friendly, economical and simple manner, and reduces the synthesis time.
