NOVELTY - Preparing active graphene by using intermediate phase asphalt comprises (i) grinding the intermediate phase asphalt powder, placing in a high temperature reaction kettle for hot polymerization, heating to obtain pre-treated intermediate phase asphalt powder, (ii) pre-processing the pre-treated intermediate phase asphalt powder and sheet-shaped potassium hydroxide, (iii) adding absolute ethyl alcohol solution, (iv) completely drying the solution, (v) drying the intermediate phase asphalt and potassium hydroxide mixed, performing high temperature activation treatment by adding the nickel crucible with mixed powder under nitrogen atmosphere, raising the temperature to 900-1200 degrees C, insulating, then naturally cooling with the furnace, (vi) completely cleaning the powder obtained by activation treatment by diluted hydrochloric acid, vacuum filtering, and then drying at constant temperature to obtain active graphene. USE - The method is useful for preparing active graphene by using intermediate phase asphalt. ADVANTAGE - The method: uses raw material, which is rich in source; is simple and economical. The active graphene is good for loading nano active particles, developing multifunctional carbon material, gas adsorption, photocatalytic, electrocatalysis, microelectronic, and energy storage material. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Preparing active graphene by using intermediate phase asphalt comprises (i) grinding the intermediate phase asphalt powder, placing in a high temperature reaction kettle for hot polymerization, heating to 380-420 degrees C, heat preserving under nitrogen atmosphere, stirring, then naturally cooling with the furnace to obtain pretreated intermediate phase asphalt powder, (ii) preprocessing the pre-treated intermediate phase asphalt powder and sheet-shaped potassium hydroxide (KOH) obtained in the step (i) in a ratio of to 1:(3-10), pre-adding in a nickel crucible, adding de-ionized water, completely dissolving KOH to form a solution, (iii) adding absolute ethyl alcohol solution in the solution obtained in the step (ii), stirring to completely dissolve with a glass rod, (iv) completely drying the solution obtained in the step (iii) to obtain the intermediate phase asphalt and KOH mixed powder, (v) drying the intermediate phase asphalt and KOH mixed powder to obtain the intermediate phase asphalt and KOH mixed powder, performing high temperature activation treatment by adding the nickel crucible with mixed powder under nitrogen atmosphere, raising the temperature to 900-1200 degrees C, insulating, then naturally cooling with the furnace, (vi) completely cleaning the powder obtained by activation treatment by diluted hydrochloric acid, vacuum filtering, and then drying at constant temperature to obtain active graphene. An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for active graphene, prepared by above method.
